About SRV

Michigan’s Oldest Modular Model Railroad Club

A nonprofit, family-oriented community built on creativity, craftsmanship, and a shared love of railroading. We believe model railroading is more than a hobby—it’s a way to connect generations, learn new skills, and tell stories through motion and design. Our layouts are built to inspire both longtime enthusiasts and first-time visitors.

Our Story

The Saginaw River Valley Model Railroad Club traces its roots back to the early 1960s, when a small group of enthusiasts began building a shared HO scale layout. In 1978, the group organized formally as a nonprofit—making it the oldest modular model railroad club in Michigan.

What started as a hobby project has grown into a dynamic organization that brings large-scale exhibitions to communities across Michigan and Ohio. Most of our railroad scenes are loosely based on surrounding areas throughout Michigan and Ohio.

Our Mission

To inspire curiosity, creativity, and connection through model railroading—sharing the rich history of rail transport with families, collectors, and future hobbyists.
